Troop 42

On Sunday, November 15, Pack 42 puts on The Family 42 Show, and we'd love Troop 42 there. The Cub Scouts look up to your Scouts.

The Family 42 Show gives every Cub Scout in Pack 42 a supportive, low-pressure way to share something they love, and a little of who they are, with the whole pack.

Lead by example. For a Cub Scout, a Scout from the troop on the same stage, or holding the timer, is what Scouting looks like a few years on. That's how the troop supports the Cubs: your Scouts are the older brothers and sisters in Scouting they can look up to.

Many ways to participate

  1. Do an act A patrol skit, a song, or a demonstration goes in as a group act under the patrol's name; one Scout alone goes in as a solo act. 2 to 3 minutes, 5 at most. The form lists Troop 42 as a unit and has a spot for the patrol.
  2. Make a square Every Scout at the Show can decorate one fabric square about themselves for the Family 42 quilt, first name at most. The Cub Scouts make theirs at a den meeting; a square station is set up on the day, so Scouts who come early can add theirs to the quilt.
  3. Take a job The jobs the Show needs: on-deck sign, timekeeper with the 30-second card, gallery guide at the quilt, cheer leader, sound-cue assistant for a den act. Den chiefs can help their den's act. The adult who RSVPs ticks "My Scout would like to volunteer for a job on the day".

Three things we'd love from Troop 42

Polite approval isn't the ask. These three are.

  1. Bring the troop. Families RSVP at family42.com, pick Troop 42 as the unit, and tick the job box for Scouts who want one.
  2. One patrol act, or more: a skit, a song, or a skill, 2 to 3 minutes. Let the senior patrol leader and the patrol leaders pick it, signed up as a group act under the patrol's name.
  3. Scouts for the jobs on the day. The room is ours from 1:00 PM for setup and until 5:00 PM for cleanup, so early birds are welcome. Whether the time counts toward service hours is your call.

What to tell your Scouts

On Sunday, November 15, Pack 42 puts on The Family 42 Show, 2:00 to 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Wollaston. Come as a Scout: do an act with your patrol, make a square for the quilt, or take a job that keeps the show running. Ask a parent, guardian, or troop leader to sign you up at family42.com and pick Troop 42.

The sign-up asks for the Scout's first name only, plus the unit and the patrol, and it goes to one mailbox.
