Participate
Many ways to participate. Every Scout has a place in The Family 42 Show.
Every Scout has a way in, and every way counts. Do an act, make a square, or take a job that keeps the show running. Nobody is judged and nobody is pushed onto the stage. The room is full of people who want each kid to succeed.
The jobs are real. A Scout can greet families at the door, hold the on-deck sign, keep time, guide people through the quilt gallery, or introduce a den's act. It's a low-pressure way to practice leadership and service, and to feel what it's like to be responsible for something the whole Pack needs.
Do an act
Solo, with your den, or as a family. A 20-second demonstration is a complete act, and nobody has to fill the time.
Act types
- Solo
- about 2 minutes
- One Scout, on their own, sharing something they love.
- Den
- up to 3 minutes
- A skit, a song, a cheer, a group demonstration.
- Family
- 2 to 3 minutes
- Good for younger Scouts. The Scout stays visibly central.
Make a Family 42 square
Every Scout decorates a fabric square at a den meeting, with the opportunity to share and reflect with their own den. If you miss it, there's a make-up station when you arrive. The squares become the Family 42 quilt.

Your Scout chooses how it's shown
- I want to say something about it.
- Please have my adult, den leader, or a Scout buddy read my sentence.
- Please just display it. Don't ask me to speak.
Volunteer for a job
Real jobs, no stage required. Every youth job is optional, age-appropriate, and supervised by an adult.
Adults can help too
The smallest useful ask is 45 to 90 minutes at this one event: welcome table, staging, music, the quilt, setup, or cleanup. Write to hello@family42.com and we'll find you a spot.
Join the subcommittee
It takes a lot to pull off a successful event. There are real tasks to handle behind the scenes before, during, and after the Show: planning, check-in and staging, music and tech, timing, and the quilt. If you'd like to help carry it, write to hello@family42.com.
